Roscommon, MI - Forest Dunes Golf Club continues to garner national recognition as one of the top courses in the country. The latest accolade for the Tom Weiskopf design in northern Michigan comes from GOLF Magazine where the course moved up 12 spots on the list of the
“Top 100 You Can Play” in the United States.

Forest Dunes, ranked No. 21 in the country by GOLF, was also ranked the highest among public courses in Michigan. Other Michigan courses recognized included Arcadia Bluffs (No. 37), Greywalls at Marquette Golf Club (No. 81), Tullymore Golf Resort (No. 82), and Bay Harbor Golf Club (No. 87).

The publication’s biennial review of the top public courses is featured in the September 2014 issue. The prestigious list was determined through a unique rating system utilizing top golf writers, industry insiders and golf course raters.

“To once again be recognized among the “Top 100 You Can Play” by GOLF Magazine is very gratifying, but to jump up the rankings like we did in this competitive market with so many great golf courses is very rewarding,” Todd Campbell, general manager at Forest Dunes, said. “This is a true testament to our staff, service, and world-class conditions that allow us to provide
one of the best golf experiences in the country.”

Tom Weiskopf, who has designed more than a hundred golf courses around the world, feels Forest Dunes is one of his top three designs in the United States.

Forest Dunes, which is cut through the beautiful Huron National Forest, is unlike any other in northern Michigan. The front nine features parkland-style holes meandering through corridors of red and jack pines, with elaborate bunkering and sandy waste areas on the sides. The back nine is quite different, featuring even more open and exposed rugged native sand areas with
scruffy underbrush bordering and crossing fairways and greens.

Complimenting the Forest Dunes course will be the newly announced Tom Doak designed course, which will open in 2016. Doak’s new design will be a reversible golf course, the only one of its kind in the United States, which will be played
both clockwise and counter clockwise.
