There are big changes at Forest Dunes near Roscommon Michigan for the 2020 golf season. By big we mean great changes to The Loop and the addition of one of the world’s most unique short courses.
Forest Dunes as many know has a multiple award winning 18 hole championship golf course designed by none other than Tom Weiskopf. This alone is reason enough to visit the Forest Dunes property near Roscommon Michigan.
What many of you do not know is that Forest Dunes has several other incredible golf experiences waiting for you.
First off is an incredible 18 hole golf course known as “The Loop”. Have you ever played a reversible golf course? A what …a reversible golf course? Not only is it a reversible golf course designed by Tom Doak one of the world’s top designers, it is one of the most fun golf experiences we have had in many years .What a treat!
One day we played the Black Course and next day the Red Course on The Loop. Both are built on the same piece of ground using the same greens and bunkers etc. Incredible and terrific for all levels of players and abilities.
Three sets of tees each day ranging from 5006 yards to 6805 yards on the red course and 6704 on the Black Course. Slope ratings range from 103 to 131 just perfect to put the new 2020 rules into play. This is golf at its simple best. We loved it!
The greens on The Loop are incredibly fast and although the course was originally built as a walking only course, power carts are now the order of the day for most folks.
To fully compliment both the Championship Forest Dunes Course, The Loop and a massive professional practice facility, let’s not forget about The Hilltop putting course and the soon to open 10 hole short course. Johns and Rhebb architects who have worked with some of the world’s top golf course designers including Doak and Crenshaw created this 10 hole masterpiece which will open in 2020.
In addition to the fabulous courses and practice facilities we would be remiss if we did not mention the outstanding clubhouse and Proshop filled with the finest culinary delights and the top golf equipment and apparel.
