It is called “ The Loop” for short but officially “ The Loop at Forest Dunes “.
It was an honour and a pleasure to tour this amazing “walking only” links course designed by Tom Doak and his outstanding team including Brian Schneider, Brian Slawnik and Eric Iverson of Tom’s Renaissance Golf Design. A truly unique and truly special golf experience and one we have never had before during our golf writing exploits over the past 30 years!
Forest Dunes also boasts one of Tom Weiskopf’s finest designs which has won many accolades from top golf publications around the globe. Golf Destination Review included.
What makes The Loop so unique? As noted it is a “reversible” golf course. That fact alone makes it unique. One day you will play the Black Course which is Clockwise and the next day the groundskeepers move the tee blocks and you will play the Red Course which is Counter-Clockwise.
There are 3 sets of tees each day (back, middle and front) and of course each course plays at different lengths. This course has the perfect combination of tees and lengths for players of all abilities. The Loop is really 2 championship golf courses on the same piece of real estate. “Brilliant”!! No wonder it was voted Best New Public Course 2016 by Golf Digest.
